Unit pricing shows the cost per standard measurement (per kg, per litre, per item) so you can compare products of different sizes on equal terms. A 500g box at 3.00 costs 6.00 per kg while a 750g box at 4.00 costs 5.33 per kg, making the larger box better value. Supermarkets are required to display unit prices in many countries, but online stores and other retailers often do not, making this calculator essential for smart shopping.

For the most accurate comparison, all items should use the same unit type. If you are comparing items sold by weight, use the same unit (all kg or all lb) for each entry. The calculator divides the total price by the quantity in whatever unit you select, so comparing 500g at one unit against 1 litre at another unit would not produce a meaningful comparison unless you know the density of the product.

The savings percentage compares the cheapest unit price to the most expensive unit price. If the best value is 2.00 per kg and the worst is 3.00 per kg, the savings are 33% (the 1.00 difference divided by 3.00). This tells you how much more expensive the worst-value option is compared to the best-value option on a per-unit basis.
