What is a good Twitter/X engagement rate in 2025?
Twitter/X engagement rates are measured two ways. Follower-based engagement rate — total engagements divided by follower count — is the traditional metric used by agencies and brand deal platforms. Impression-based engagement rate — total engagements divided by impressions — is the metric Twitter/X’s own analytics interface emphasises, and reflects how the content performed against the audience that actually saw it.
For follower-based ER, 1% is considered average and 2%+ is strong for accounts under 50,000 followers. For impression-based ER, the equivalent benchmarks are 3% average and 5%+ strong. Both metrics decline at scale — a 0.5% follower ER from a 1 million follower account represents stronger absolute performance than the same rate from a 5,000 follower account.
