Why text has unwanted line breaks
The most common source of unwanted line breaks is copying text from PDFs. PDF files store text in fixed-width columns, so every visual line ending becomes a hard line break when you paste it elsewhere. Email clients and legacy word processors can introduce the same problem.
Another common scenario is data exported from spreadsheets or databases where each cell value ends with a newline character. And programmers often need to join multi-line strings into a single line for use in JSON, SQL queries, or API payloads.
This tool shows all three cleaning modes simultaneously so you can pick the right one without trial and error. Pair it with our whitespace cleaner for a thorough cleanup, or use the find and replace tool for more targeted substitutions.
