Why text similarity matters for SEO and content quality
Search engines treat duplicate and near-duplicate content as a quality signal. When two pages on the same site share large blocks of text, crawlers may choose to index only one version and suppress the other from search results. This is especially common with product descriptions, location pages, and repurposed blog posts.
Checking similarity before you publish helps you catch overlap early. Paste the original and the new version into this tool to see exactly which phrases are shared and decide whether to rewrite, merge, or canonicalise. Pair the results with our Word Counter to verify length, the Duplicate Line Remover to clean up repeated sentences, and the Readability Scorer to make sure the final draft is clear and accessible.
