WPM (Words Per Minute) is calculated by dividing the number of correctly typed characters by 5 (the standard word length) and then dividing by the elapsed time in minutes. Only correct characters count toward your WPM score.

CPM stands for Characters Per Minute. It counts how many correct characters you type per minute. CPM is simply WPM multiplied by 5, giving a more granular view of your raw typing speed.

Accuracy is the percentage of correct keystrokes out of all keystrokes made. If you type 95 correct characters out of 100 total keystrokes, your accuracy is 95%. Backspacing to fix errors still counts the original error.

The average typing speed is around 40 WPM. A speed of 65 WPM is considered above average, 80 WPM is fast, and 100+ WPM is professional level. Court reporters and competitive typists often exceed 130 WPM.
